Sulphur Springs Loop

A classic Elbow Valley Trail that provides a little bit of everything as it travels across open meadows, through tight trees, with short quick descents and climbs, along with an amazing field of flowers, as you roll off of the trail's Summit to the valley floor. This trail can collect mud along several stretches and is best saved for dry conditions.

To Get Here: From the 4 way stop on HWY 22 next to Bragg Creek, take HWY 22 south to a T intersection. Turn right (westbound) on HWY 66. Travel 11.0 km west down HWY 66 to Station Flats. Station Flats is located on the right hand side of the road past the Elbow River bridge and Allan Bill Pond Parking.

Trail Description:

The trail starts at the SW corner of the parking lot. A few meters from the entrance, you'll reach the Diamond T junction. Keep left and ride the fast paced open single track that parallels the highway. 400m further down the path, you'll pass the second Diamond T junction where you'll keep left again and continue to parallel the highway. The Sulpher Springs junction is at 1.3km. Here you can choose which way you prefer to ride the route. We suggest the counter - clockwise direction starting with Sulpher Springs, which provides a quick climb and two great descents. 3.2km from the Sulpher Springs turnoff, stay straight as you cross Pneuma, Hot Laps, Moose Mtn Road and Brakeless. After a short climb up you'll crest the horizon and enjoy a great pano of the mountains to the west with an even better descent that drops off until you come to the Elbow Valley junction. Turn left and begin another short climb towards Moose Mtn Road. (Alternatively continue straight through the junction and return on the Riverview Trail.) Once again, cross over Brakeless, Moose Mtn Road and Pneuma. Continue the climb for a short distance past Pneuma  before enjoying another quick descent back down to the valley bottom with a sprint across the meadows, keeping right at the Sulpher Springs and Diamond T junctions.
