Kananaskis boasts some of the most scenic, challenging and enjoyable trails in Canada. There are over a 100 trails that snake through the mountains and foothills. This is big country and some of the trails are very remote. You must be efficient with mountain navigation, carry sufficient clothing and be prepared for animal encounters as well as self rescue.

Bragg Creek Area - The closest wilderness recreation area to Calgary, the Bragg Creek Area has recently exploded in popularity with new trails being constructed each year. The Elbow Valley holds X-Country and Downhill trails that with well mapped trail networks or adventure rides.
Highwood Area - With few residents living nearby, the Highwood Area is likely the most secluded area in the region. It's easy to feel like you've teleported into the old west while riding these X-Country Trails.
Kananaskis Area - One of the most popular areas in Kananaskis. Covering trails in the Bow Valley Canmore area and areas south down Spray Trail and Hwy 40 to the old Fortress Ski Hill. Includes a mix of world class X-Country, All-Mountain and Downhill Trails.
Peter Lougheed Area - Arguably the most scenic area in Kananaskis. Centered on Peter Lougheed Provincial Park which encompasses the beautiful Kananaskis Lakes. A popular tourist destination. All trails are X-Country.
Sheep River Area - A quiet and secluded area located west of Turner Valley and Okotoks. Enjoy watching the many Big Horn Sheep that give the area it's name! All X-Country trails.
Sibbald Area - Located in the foothills of Kananaskis, a popular area for Calgary and Cochrane residents due to it's close proximity. All trails are X-Country
