With over 800 members, the Calgary section is one of the largest sections of the ACC.
The section offers mountaineering trips of all kinds, (backcountry
skiing, ice climbing, rock climbing, and alpine climbing). We also
subsidize weekend courses throughout the year covering the full range of
mountaineering skills. The Calgary section is very involved in regional
access and environment issues, primarily focussed on the Bow Valley,
the National Parks, and Kananaskis Country, and the section offers a
chance to meet other individuals with similar interests. To take advantage of the many outstanding activities and courses organized by Calgary Section volunteer committees, see here for more details.
With the Canadian Rockies at their back door, members of the Rocky Mountain Section participate in a wide range of activities all year round. Whether it's hiking, scrambling, rock climbing, mountaineering, ice climbing, cross-country ski or ski touring, the Alpine Club of Canada's Rocky Mountain Section has it all !
Avalanche Canada is a non-government, not-for-profit organization dedicated to public avalanche safety. We issue daily avalanche forecasts throughout the winter for much of the mountainous regions of western Canada, providing this free information via our website and our app, Avalanche Canada Mobile. We also coordinate and deliver avalanche awareness and education programs, provide curriculum and support to instructors of Avalanche Canada training programs, act as a central point-of-contact for avalanche information, and work closely with many different avalanche research projects, both at home and abroad.
