Calgary Outdoor Club

Free to join, and open to any adult in Canada, the COC brings people together in a fun, friendly and inviting atmosphere. We strive to offer a variety of events, with some things geared for beginners, some more challenging things, and lots of 'somewhere in the middle' stuff. And, we attempt to keep events as low-cost as possible. A majority of our events take place in the Calgary area, but occasionally we visit our neighboring provinces or travel further away from home.
Each month we have regular outdoor activities such as hiking, camping, biking, inline skating and canoeing (summer) and skiing, boarding, cross-country skiing and snow shoeing (winter), as well as social events, and "special" events such as white water rafting, caving, and dog sled tours.

Calgary Outdoor Recreation Enthusiasts

CORE is a Calgary-based hiking club created in 1999. We are a smaller club of very active members of varying ages. New members have often commented on how welcome they felt when coming out for first events. Our primary activities are day hikes. Check out our past events calendar to see some of the hikes we have done. We also have a very active contingent of scramblers. Check them out here.
Another unique club activity are the urban walks. A great way to get exercise mid-week. Many of us have discovered parts of our city we never knew existed.
Hiking is our primary activity, but we also have active participation in skiing (cross-country and downhill), snowshoeing, backpacking, camping, cycling, and canoeing. We also hold social events with dinner or movie nights, picnics and barbeques, as well as other group social activities and outings. Trip and event planning is an ongoing process and we welcome and encourage members to get involved by suggesting and/or coordinating activities. We feel the more involved members are, the more fun it is !!!
