Increasing the stand retention (clumps of mature forest) from 1% to 10% in clearcut operations throughout Alberta.
Improving Alberta's forest management based on sound science and sustainable forest management principles.
This increase in retention within the cut blocks will not only improve aesthetics but will also promote biodiversity, wildlife habitat, nutrient cycling, and other important values. (see attached.)
