Sheep River Area Campgrounds
Centered around the Sheep River, this area is a haven for white water paddlers, anglers and more. Most of the campgrounds are in the rolling foothills but a short trip to the west, will bring you into the middle of large alpine peaks. There are several hiking, biking and equestrian trails in this area.

Fisher Creek
A great spot for off roaders. Bordering Off Highway Vehicle area of McLean Creek, you can start riding the trail network, next to the campsite.

To Get Here: From the 4 way stop on HWY 22 in Bragg Creek, head south down HWY 22 to the T intersection. Turn right (westbound) down HWY 66 for 8.4km to the McLean Creek turn off on the left. Turn left down RR54a and continue for 1.4km to the McLean Creek Store. Take the dirt road on your left RR54a and continue for 12.2km to a T intersection. Turn left and continue eastbound on RR50a for 1.3km to the campground entrance on your right. This campground is only accessible from HWY 66 between May 1 and November 30. From Dec 1 - April 30, access is only available from the East on HWY 549. This route also bypasses much of the rough dirt road and is a better option for trailers. |
Mesa Butte
One of the best Equestrian Sites in Kananaskis. Three Point Creek wanders behind the campground and there are numerous trails surrounding the area for you to discover.

North Fork
A peaceful spot hidden from the crowds. Enjoy private sites surrounded by a mossy forest floor and mature timber. Three Point Creek runs behind the sites and there are a number of trails in the area.

Sandy McNabb
A very large campground in a beautiful Spot on the Sheep River. There are numerous hiking and riding trails that depart from the campground or the area surrounding the campground. This is also the put in for paddling the Sheep River to Turner Valley. For more info visit Favorite Rivers.

Blue Rock
The Blue Rock Campgrounds are the perfect base camps for accessing the Kananaskis mountains rising at the end of HWY 546. Spend your days hiking, biking or riding on the trails that surround the camps or relax at some of the picnic spots that are located nearby.
